These are some basic plans showing the layout of a wedged through tenon and its wedges. The design is in 1″ (4/4) stock, but the same ratios can be scaled for larger stock.
Important things to pay attention to with this joint:
- Make sure to drill a hole at the base of the edge kerfs. This will stop the splitting of the wood.
- When calculating the width of your wedge, make sure to add the thickness of your saw kerf to that number.
